The network is being supported by People in Action and have
met at different venues across the region to raise the
profile of learning disability and ethnicity and addressing
common needs and sharing work.
Membership is building gradually, topics covered to date
include 'In Control; Advocacy for People from Black and
Mionority Ethnic Communities', 'Investors in Diversity
Standard'; 'Liaison Workers, development of services for
black and minority ethnic communities'.
Aqila Choudhry, Director of
People in Action, facilitates the
network and also represents the network at the National
Advisory Group of Learning Disability and Ethnicity. New
members and sharing of work is encouraged.
