Deafblind
UK Black and Minority Ethnic Services Development
Project
Deafblind UK are a
charity dedicated to offering support and specialist
services to people in the UK who are deafblind or living
with combined loss of sight and hearing.
The Black and Minority Ethnic Services Development Project
aims to identify issues faces by users and carers in BME
communities in order that services and support offered by
Deafblind UK are more appropriate for BME communities.
The project will focus on work with Deafblind carers and
users within four main BME groups (Chinese, Irish, South
Asian and Afro-Caribbean). We will work with communities
groups in the BME sector and BME media to achieve our goal.
Our aim is to have a much better understanding of BME
communities’ issues and to improve services for users and
carers in BME communities as a whole.
We welcome any advice and assistance and would like to
contact as many people as possible who have dual sensory
impairment from a black or minority ethnic background.
