A new Master course in Public Health is being launched at the University of Leeds this September.
The MPH is designed
to serve a variety of needs. It is designed for those
individuals who:
Prospective students
are expected from many different sectors e.g. health and
social care, local authorities and the voluntary and
community sectors. Students from both the UK and other
countries with developed Public Health systems are hoped to
be recruited.
MPH students will be able to tailor their programme by
selecting modules from across the Leeds Institute of Health
Sciences and the School of Medicine at Leeds. Modules
available include those expected to be found on any
traditional Public Health programme e.g. Health Promotion
and Public Policy, along with modules more in keeping with
21st
Century
Public Health practice e.g. Informatics in Healthcare and
Challenges and Opportunities in International Health.
The programme has
been designed in modular form so that successful students
can graduate with either a Postgraduate Certificate
(PGCert) in Public Health (60 credits), a Postgraduate
Diploma (PGDip) in Public Health (120 credits) or an MPH
degree (180 credits).
The majority of modules will also be offered as Continuous
Professional Development and available to those individuals
who would like to know more about specific areas of Public
Health but do not wish to take any assessments.
A key elective available during the programme focuses
specifically on issues relating to culture, ethnicity and
diversity in health and social care.
