MENCAP supports projects that expand voluntary work in the field of health and personal social services, designed to be of help to children, young people and/or adults with a learning disability.

Priorities

Mencap is particularly interested in funding local voluntary organisations which:

• Can demonstrate that their projects are focused upon the Department of Health’s specific priority areas.
• Are committed to promoting independence and reducing inequalities n health, in particular for children, young people, adults, older people and people from black and minority ethnic communities, with a learning disability, in urban and rural communities.
• Provide dynamic and creative opportunities for volunteers, and which enable users of services to themselves become volunteers.
• Develop a volunteer strategy, including the establishment of good practice principles and systems, to increase accessibility and sustain quality volunteering.

Applications

Mencap awards grants to its affiliated clubs and societies, and other groups, for projects which are designed to be of help to people with a learning disability. The closing date for applications is 30 September each year.
